Poland striker Robert Lewandowski is out of the race to win the Golden Boot Award at the European Championship after his team was knocked out at the group stage. The Bayern Munich striker is one of the leading goalscorers at Euro 2020 with three goals from three games but he won’t be able to add to his tally after Poland failed to make the round of 16. Only Portugal skipper Cristiano Ronaldo has more goals than the Poland striker at the tournament till date after the Juventus talisman scored five goals in his three games.

Lewandowski didn’t score in the first game for Poland in Group E as they were beaten by Slovakia thanks to the second half dismissal of experienced midfielder GrzegoryKrychowiak. By time of his dismissal, Poland had come from a goal down to get back to level terms. Slovakia made the numerical advantage count with Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar netting the winner after the red card to Krychowiak.

Bayern Munich star Lewandowski scored his first goal for Poland during the 1-1 draw recorded in the second game against Spain. Juventus attacker Alvaro Morata had given the Spaniards the lead in the first half before Lewandowki rescued a point with his goal in the second half. He then added two goals in the final group game which ended in a 3-2 defeat for Poland.

Sweden got the better of Poland in a five-goal thriller to secure top spot in Group E. Poland needed to win the match to book their place in the last 16 but they were unable to achieve that target despite the brace from Lewandowki in the second half of the game.
