He moved around the pitch well and looked confident to take on Polish players and tested Szczesny. Everything starts with the new coach. The impressive but still young coaching career of 46-year-old Igor Milicic has come as no surprise to anyone in Poland. He was known as a smart player and it was obvious that he wanted to coach. In recent years he has changed coaching trends in Poland, bringing in innovative ideas, creatively using modern offenses and mixed styles on defense, which often confused opposing coaches and players.
Igor Milicic took the reins of Poland last year, after winning three Polish league titles in the space of four years. So it came as no surprise that in the summer of 2021, after an unsuccessful FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Kaunas, the Polish Basketball Federation decided to replace American coach Mike Taylor after eight years at the helm and turned to the most successful coach within Poland. Poland international Robert Lewandowski was in attendance as Barcelona thrashed Major League Soccer (MLS) side Inter Miami 6-0 in front of their home fans. The Poland striker watched on as Catalan giants Barcelona proved to be too much for their hosts in a friendly game.
Barcelona would have been hoping to see Poland international Lewandowski in action following his transfer from German club Bayern Munich in a deal reported to be around €50m. Poland won’t be going to the UEFA Nations League Finals for the 2022/23 season after they dropped out of contention in Group A4. They are in the same group with Wales, Belgium and the Netherlands. A record of one win, one draw and two defeats means that they can no longer finish at the summit at the end of the final set of games in the group. Only the group winners in League A will advance to the Nations League Finals.
The Polish team dropped out of contention after they were beaten 1-0 at home by Belgium who are the second-best team in the world according to the latest edition of the FIFA Rankings. Poland lost to the Red Devils by a lone goal scored by MichyBatshuayi off the assist from midfielder YouriTielemans. It was the second goal of the current Nations League campaign for the former Borussia Dortmund striker. Batshuayi found the back of the net on 16 minutes and it turned out to be the winner. Atletico Madrid are reportedly keen on a summer swoop for Aston Villa defender Matty Cash. This is according to the report from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano as he stated that Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have made Poland international Cash a target ahead of this summer’s transfer window. Fabrizio Romano revealed on his Here We Go podcast that Atletico Madrid see Poland international fullback as a potential replacement for Kieran Trippier who signed for Newcastle United at the start of this year.
Newcastle Unitedmade England international Trippier their first signing of the January transfer window. He was signed from Atletico Madrid with the La Liga with Danish star Daniel Wass signed as his replacement. Trippier played a major role for Newcastle United as they climbed out of the relegation zone earlier this year. The Magpies had been in the relegation zone for several months before the arrival of Trippier from Atletico Madrid in January. Apart from Trippier, Newcastle United also signed Dan Burn from Brighton and Hove Albion, Chris Wood from Burnley, Matt Targett on loan from Aston Villa and Brazilian star Bruno Guimares from French club Lyon. Poland are back at the FIFA World Cup stage for the second straight tournament after on the back of the back of a 12-year absence and they have been drawn in Group C alongside two-time winners Argentina, two-time hosts Mexico and Asian team Saudi Arabia in what could be a tricky group to navigate for Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski and his teammates.
The Polish team had not qualified for the FIFA World Cup tournament in 12 years when they secured qualification for the 2018 edition in Russia, but they didn’t make the most of it after a group stage exit. Poland warmed up for their playoff final tie with Sweden from path B of the European qualifiers for this year’s World Cup tournament on Qatari soil with a 1-1 draw at the home of Scotland in an international friendly. Poland were able to play Scotland in a friendly after their playoff semifinal tie with Russia was cancelled. The away game against the Russians was cancelled after they were expelled from the playoffs due to the invasion of Ukraine as orchestrated by their president, Vladimir Putin.
After a goalless affair in the first half of the friendly clash between hosts Scotland and Poland at Hampden Park in the Scottish city of Glasgow, Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney gave the home team the lead on 65 minutes for what was his first goal for his country. Tierney was on the way to being the matchwinner before the Polish team equalised through Adam Buksa in stoppage time as the two teams settled for a stalemate. West Ham United goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski would be hoping to return to Premier League action next month after missing the last game. The Poland international was absent for the last Premier League match at Manchester United. The Poland national team shot stopper was not in the Hammers squad for the Manchester United game last week Saturday due to illness.
Poland goalkeeper Fabianski has been in the West Ham United goal since the start of the season. He played the entire duration of the first 22 games of this season’s Premier League before missing the 23rd game against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has been named as part of the list of contenders for the FIFA Best Men’s Player of the Year for 2021. The Poland national team hitman was the recipient of the same award last year. Lewandowski finished ahead of both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to win the award at the end of 2020. All the three players have been nominated as part of an 11-man nominees’ list for the award.
Poland international Lewandowski has been in sensational scoring form since the turn of the year. Last season, he scored 41 goals in the German Bundesliga to break the long-standing record held by Bayern Munich and German football great Gerd Muller. Ex-Bayern striker Muller had scored 40 times on two occasions in the 70s. Poland national team skipper Lewandowski was able to set a new record for the most goals in a German Bundesliga season despite missing some games towards the end of last season. He missed a few weeks of football after sustaining a knee injury while on duty with Poland for their Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March.
